First off, let’s address the elephant in the room: We’ve been absent from our blog for over a year now. We know, it’s pitiful..but we’re back now and we promise to do better!
Let’s get real – blogging can be a task. A HUGE one at times, but it’s definitely worth it. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break from blogging, but sometimes it can get out of hand. Your week or month-long hiatus suddenly turns into multiple months or a year!
Trust us, we know!
But, thankfully there is hope! Here are a few tips to help you get back into the swing of things after taking a long break from your blog!
Brainstorm
One of the first things you want to do when coming back from a long blogging break is to brainstorm post ideas for your future posts. The last thing you want to do is make a major blogging comeback, only to disappear again because you aren’t prepared!
Take some time to sit down and brainstorm blog ideas. Audit the content you currently have on your blog so you don’t copy a previous blog. Consider what your audience is into and make sure that you create blog topics that pertain to that.
Check for Spam
If you have a blog that accepts comments, spam is something that you’ll have to look out for from time to time. If you’ve been missing in action for a while from your blog, chances are that you might have a few spam comments waiting for you on your blog.
Be sure to check for these spam comments and delete them when necessary. Also, if you have a WordPress blog, be sure to download software that will help you moderate and block the spam comments when they come.
Create A Schedule
A blog schedule is so important! A blog schedule will keep you organized and help you stay on top of your tasks, while also helping you develop your overall content strategy much more easily!
Take a few hours to whip out your calendar of choice and write down what you plan to write and when you plan to publish so you can see everything ahead of time! It’s a winning strategy!
Update Old Posts
If you have old posts on your blog, clear out some time between writing to update those posts! Make sure that there is no outdated information, broken links/embeds, or old pictures on the blog.
Doing these simple tasks will keep your content relevant and fresh, and your readers will be able to continue enjoying your content!
And there you have it – our tips for a blogging return! If you keep these few tips in mind, your blogging return will be epic, and your readers will be thrilled to have you back!
